Conwy RSPB

Until recently, this reserve was on my route to the head office of my employer, so when the days were longer I would often take my gear with me to work and then stop off on the way home.
The reserve is on the banks of the Conwy estuary. It has a number of footpaths that take you round a series of lagoons, through meadows and alongside the estuary. There are numerous observation hides. Waders and wildfowl are the main interest but well over 200 species have been recorded at this reserve.
From a photographic viewpoint, unless the subject is a Heron, a lens in the 600mm range is ideal for use in the hides. In summer there are many Warblers present and with patience (and avoiding the busy times) it's possible to get close to Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler, Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff, Whitethroat, among others, with a lens in the 400mm range. To see birds on the estuary, plan a visit at high tide.
Take the Deganwy exit off the A55; you'll see the brown signs.
